May: Another Season of Fresh and Local Produce for the Food Pantry!

We are happy to announce that the food pantry at CFL will be participating in Glynwood’s Food Sovereignty Fund program again this year! This amazing program connects small Hudson Valley farmers to community-based hunger relief projects across New York state.

This is our food pantry’s second year participating in the program. For the next 20 weeks, we will receive fresh produce from Mimomex farm based in Goshen New York. Mimomex is run by Martin Rodriguez and Gaudencia Gonzalez – who both came from farming families in Progreso Piaxtla Puebla, Mexico. Our food pantry clients loved the variety of fresh veggies and herbs that came from Mimomex last year.

Of course, in addition to local produce being beautiful, nutritious, and delicious, we love getting to be a part of a program that works to better our food system as a whole. We are very grateful to Glynwood for developing a program that provides healthy food for our community and supports local farmers. We are excited to see what this season brings!
